From the Desk of Fr. Dan
Gratitude
At the end of every assignment, I like to take a step back and thank God for the many blessings He gave me there. First of all, I’d like to thank God for all of you. You’ve all taught me a lot about the Lord, life and God’s love through hanging out after Mass, coffee, formal and informal groups. I’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, laughed a lot and met some great people. Thanks to each and every one of you.
One of the things I got to continue from my last assignment was the Christ Life program. I’m grateful for Fr. Will’s permission and all of your openness to making this journey to the Lord a big success. Around 120 joined us for Discovering Christ and 60+ have continued with Following Christ this past week. The Lord is raising up some great disciples in all of you! Next was the Chosen series. I enjoyed watching it with you, laughing, crying, being moved by the Holy Spirit and everything else. I loved sharing my insights and hearing yours, what a great blessing to share all that with you! We had a great Bible Study for a while at Seelos, Eucharistic Small groups and did some great work with the Liturgy Committee as well.
One of the things I’ll miss, outside the sacraments, (too many wonderful Masses, Baptisms, Weddings, even the solemnity of funerals to count!) is the way we celebrate Lent. From the Stations, to the Fish Fries to the Passion Play, it was amazing. The Passion Play melodies and lyrics were hauntingly beautiful and it was a blessing to get in touch with my inner theater geek and do it with you. Of course the Fish Fries are #1 in so many ways thanks to all of you! Who could forget being welcomed in a the Festival and Harvest Home. Truly memorable times of building and celebrating community.
Our young adult group doubled in the time I was here and I loved meeting and journeying with so many of you, wrestling with young adult questions or growing deeper in your faith. I especially loved the young adult retreat at Lake Milton.
Who could forget the sometimes boisterous Men’s Fellowship and sometimes feisty Ladies of Charity, as well as our faithful Knights of Columbus? Thank you all for being part of my life and the life of the parish.
Also I want to say a big thank you to all the staff, volunteers, clergy, especially Seminarian Brian, Deacon Dave, Fr. Daniel and Fr. Will. I learned something from each of you and I am a better person professionally and spiritually because of it. Thank you!
And lastly, in a general way to anyone or group I may have missed, thank you for journeying with me. I hope you got closer to Christ in some way and let’s continue to do so everyday.
As I prepare to move forward, I say goodbye, middle English for God be with you. The Catholic world is small in Pittsburgh and I’m sure we’ll meet again, but if we do not in this life, may we all journey towards Jesus in our own way, and be reunited when we see Him face to face. Thanks for the memories and know of my prayers. My new address is 2600 Morange Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. My email is
waruszewskid@gmail.com. My heart is filled with gratitude for the good we had. Peace and God be with you!

Young Adult Ministry
January 15: Happy New Year! If you have never been to the young adult nights at Saint Aidan Parish, give it a try. We have created a family to share a meal with and support each other in our world. How beautiful the young adult group has shared in the arrival of our first baby born into our family, a young couple getting engaged, and now supporting and loving all while growing in faith together with our friend Blake who is coming into the church on Easter! We are truly a family!! Join us Monday nights at 6:30 pm for dinner in the youth room.

Walking With Purpose
Another glass of wine, just one more episode on Netflix, a little more scrolling on Instagram…Women are numbing out at ever-increasing rates. Why? What is it about our lives that makes us feel so overwhelmed? What might change if we figured out how to build lives that we don’t want to escape?
Ordering Your Priorities: Building a Life Well Lived is an immensely practical Bible study that will help you put the most important things first. We’ll begin by paying attention to the One who made us, because He can best tell us what we need for our lives to run well.
Ordering Your Priorities is ideal if you...
- Are ready to discover not only what matters most in life but also how to prioritize those things
- Long to feel satisfied at the end of the day, knowing that you’ve loved your family not just in your heart but also in your schedule
- Want to create a life that you don’t need to escape

Marian Consecration
Our Blessed Mother wants nothing more than to lead us to Jesus, so we join together as a diocese to consecrate ourselves to her, that through falling more in love with her, she would teach us how to love her Son. Come each week for a talk on Marian consecration and spirituality, leading up to consecration to Mary.

Other Parish News
Special Collection
On January 20th – 21st, a special collection will take place to benefit the students of St. Anthony School Programs and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. We have been so blessed to have the support of the parishes around the Diocese and look forward to your continued support this coming year! The children of St. Anthony School Programs and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech have flourished and grown thanks to the generous gifts parishioners throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh have provided.
St. Anthony School Programs offers an inclusive education to children ages 5-21 with Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other special needs. DePaul School for Hearing and Speech teaches children who are deaf, hard of hearing, or who have severe speech delays to listen, speak, and learn. Together, St. Anthony’s and DePaul School empower students to become active and contributing members of their respective communities. Together, through this special collection, we can support our students' spiritual and academic growth, and give back the joy they share with us, each day.
Here is how you can help the children of our programs:
- Please put the enclosed fliers and/or graphics in your bulletin or display in your parish community spaces to raise awareness of the Diocesan collection and these two critical programs in the Diocese.
- Please encourage your parishioners to participate in the special Diocesan collection and help them to understand the importance their support means to the success of some of the youngest members of our faith.
- Remind your parishioners to please update their Faith Direct accounts so they may also contribute to this special collection.
With your support and prayers, we are confident God will continue to work through our programs to help our students grow and succeed. This special collection also allows us to reach out to families within the Diocese who need our services. Thank you for giving your heart to these children.
