Jesus Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! It is Easter Season. A Blessed & Happy Easter on behalf of Fr. DJ, Fr. Daniel, our chaplain, Deacon Al, Deacon Dave, the staff, and myself. May you, your family and loved ones be filled with God’s abundance of grace, peace, and joy.

This is the greatest celebration of the year. This is greater than the Super Bowl, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and all the rest rolled into one celebration. It is so great of a celebration that the Church takes eight full days to celebrate Easter Sunday, the Day of the Lord, the Day of the Resurrection, the Day of Eternal Life. This is known as the Octave of Easter. The day of Easter goes through this entire week until Divine Mercy Sunday, and the Season of Easter lasts for 50 days, until the Solemnity of Pentecost. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

Jesus Christ truly died on the cross in Jerusalem, and he was raised from the dead by his heavenly Father. I am a witness to the empty tomb. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is what gives us all our hope in him. Venerable Fulton Sheen often said that no one else ever made a date three days after his death. But Jesus did keep his appointment with his disciples even after he died on the cross. On Easter Sunday, Jesus appears to the two disciples who were on the road to Emmaus. Emmaus is a city away from Jerusalem. They were walking away, as ones without hope, but Jesus appears to them. He makes his presence known to them “in the breaking of the bread” (Luke 24:35b), giving them hope in his resurrection. Then he appeared to Peter and the other disciples saying, “Peace to you.” (Luke 24:36b) The breaking of the bread and Jesus’ peace that he offers to us are intimately connected. Jesus’ True Presence and his Peace are offered to us, in the breaking of the bread, the Holy Eucharist.

Confessions: There will be no Saturday confessions on Holy Saturday, March 30 at St. Alexis Church.

Saint Aidan Kentucky Mission Trip June 23-29, 2024

Calling all incoming High School freshman through seniors to join our first ever mission trip! To inquire more about this trip, please contact Christine Miller at cmiller@saintaidanparish.org.

We are in need of monetary donations for supplies needed for our seven home projects and to help sponsor a teen to attend this mission trip. Your donations would be greatly appreciated!

Making demands on oneself is one of the keys to our spiritual struggle. We all have in seed form the defect of laziness. It is the root of many great problems and evils. To do what is good requires courage. Fortitude is one of the most attractive attributes of the human personality. We should all cultivate fortitude out of love for God. It has been said that tired soldiers win wars. The same is required of us to attain victory in our lifelong spiritual struggle.

The next Divine Mercy Devotion and Scriptural Rosary will be on Friday, April 5. They will be prayed after the noon Mass at St. Alphonsus Church on the First Friday of the month. All are welcome to join us on First Fridays! 

Join us for the First Saturday Novena of Holy Communions after the 8:00 am Mass at St. Alexis on the first Saturday of every month.

Registration is open for Sharing Christ! If you have gone through Following Christ at St. Aidan Parish or any other parish, please join us for Sharing Christ. We are all called to Evangelize and spread the Good News, but sometimes we can be at a loss for how to go about doing this. We may be afraid of rejection, afraid we will push someone away or that we will fail. In Sharing Christ we will learn how to be brave, be bold, and share the Good News that God Exists, Jesus died for our salvation and that HE LOVES YOU!!! We will meet every Thursday from April 18 through May 23 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the cafeteria at St. Alexis. Childcare will be provided if needed. The retreat will be on Sunday, June 2 from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. Email christlife@saintaidanparish.org to register!

Did you know that our parish serves nine Nursing Care/Senior Living Facilities?! We provide Mass to each facility under the direction of our wonderful chaplain, Fr. Daniel Straughn, and many volunteers take Holy Communion to various facilities during the weeks when we do not have Mass. We need a few more volunteers to join our Advance Team which helps Fr. Daniel by getting to the facility early to set up and assist him at Mass. In addition, as our list of requests grows, we need more volunteers to take Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.
